Kill-A-Watt is a meter for measuring electrical use of most any items in your home or business. Just plug Kill-A-Watt into a grounded (3-prong) outlet, then plug your item into the Kill-A-Watt meter. The meter will instantly display your line voltage, Amperage draw, Watt usage (watts is how much power a device is using), Hertz (electrical oscillation cycle), and if you leave it plugged in, it will tell you Kilowatthours (Kilowatts used over a period of time--the method the electric company uses to bill you).
This is the most inexpensive and simple way to determine your electrical savings when replacing your standard lights with LEDs.
